WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced today he has appointed General Jack Keane (ret.) to serve as a member of the Commission on the National Defense Strategy. Following the announcement, Chairman Wicker issued the following statement:
“General Keane has faithfully served our country since the era of the Vietnam War. Few individuals in our history have contributed so much to the betterment of our national security efforts. Fittingly, President Trump awarded General Keane the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his first administration. Today, it gives me great pleasure to appoint General Keane to the Commission on the National Defense Strategy. I am certain his expertise will be invaluable to the Commission’s work.
