WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after voting for a short-term bill to fund the federal government through December 20, 2019:
“It is deeply disappointing that Congress has reached another funding deadline without an agreement on appropriations for this fiscal year. This is not the way to govern. Extending the current spending levels is better than a government shutdown, but it is still bad policy because it damages our national security and wastes taxpayer dollars. For the sake of our troops and our military readiness, I hope my colleagues will not allow any further delays in approving long-term government funding.”Wicker recently spoke on the Senate floor on the damage and waste caused by continuing resolutions.
