Wicker Statement on GAO Tanker Protest Decision

June 18, 2008

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today released the following statement in response to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) sustaining Boeing’s protest of the Air Force tanker contract awarded earlier this year to Northrop Grumman/EADS:

“Today’s decision is disappointing, but it is part of the process that will now continue.  As we move forward, it is critical for the Air Force to be given the ability to carefully review GAO’s findings.  I stand firmly by my support of the Northrop Grumman tanker, and believe it represents the best option for our men and women in uniform.”
