Senator Wicker Statement on Successful Marine Corps Audit

February 23, 2024

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., the highest-ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement addressing the U.S. Marine Corps’ first ever clean audit:

"I applaud the Marine Corps for being the first military service to achieve a clean audit. This vindicates years of work by people like Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist and countless financial management professionals,” Senator Wicker said. “That work has inspired a revolution in data-driven management at DOD, saving the taxpayer tens of billions of dollars.

It is crucial that the other military services maintain a focus on achieving a clean report as soon as possible, which is why the FY24 NDAA sets a deadline of 2028 for completion of a clean audit for the entire department."
