Senator Wicker Cosponsors Laken Riley Act in U.S. Senate

March 13, 2024

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., cosponsored the U.S. Senate version of the Laken Riley Act.

“Tragedies like this should never be allowed to happen again. This bill would help us prevent American families from suffering further loss and heartbreak,” Senator Wicker said.

The Laken Riley Act would require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest illegal aliens who commit theft, burglary, larceny, or shoplifting offenses and would mandate that these aliens are detained until they are removed from the United States so they cannot reoffend and commit further crimes. The Laken Riley Act passed the House last week in a bipartisan vote of 251-170.
