JACKSON, Miss. – U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today assured Mississippians that officials at the federal, state and local levels are working together to provide recovery assistance following recent storm and flood damage.
“Following a storm that created this much damage, with the possibility of more strong storms in the forecast, it is important for Mississippians to know that their elected officials at every level of government are working together to ensure we’re maximizing available assistance,” Wicker said.
“Our local first responders should be recognized for the work they’re doing to help those affected by the storms and flooding. Both MEMA and FEMA officials are also working hard to evaluate the damage and provide assistance.
“I am actively working with Governor Barbour and other state and local officials to ensure that whatever federal resources are needed will be delivered quickly to the Mississippians who need it.”
Wicker, who is in Jackson today, met earlier this week in Washington, D.C. with Hinds County officials and received and update on the area’s damage caused by last week’s storms.
