Wicker Statement on FEMA Denial for Jackson Area Assistance

April 18, 2008

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today released the following statement after the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied federal disaster assistance to the Jackson area:

“I am disappointed that this badly needed federal assistance was denied for the Jackson area,” Sen. Wicker said.  “Governor Barbour was right to immediately appeal this decision, which will allow the state to present additional supporting information for its request for assistance that is obviously needed.  I will continue working with the governor and local officials to assist in securing this funding.”
