Sens. Wicker and Cochran Announce Nearly $15,000 for Tchula

July 11, 2008

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced that Tchula has been selected to receive a grant totaling $14,951 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program.  The funds will be used for the purchase of two trucks for the city’s public works department.

“Tchula currently does not have trucks available for their day to day operations of water and sewer,” Senator Wicker said.  “This grant will help Tchula’s public works department in providing better and more efficient service to their residents.”

The USDA Rural Development Program aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in rural America.  This is done by providing financial and technical assistance to foster growth and new opportunities for business development, home ownership, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
