Chairman Wicker Applauds Payment for Troops to Assist with Housing Costs

December 18, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today commended President Trump and Secretary Hegseth for using reconciliation funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill to address housing costs for service members. The Chairman released the following statement:

“I commend President Trump’s swift action to implement the additional funding Congress provided to help offset housing costs for service members. This one-time payment, combined with an average 4.2 percent increase to the Basic Allowance for Housing and 3.8 percent military pay raise in 2026, will put real money in the pockets of our service members and their families, helping provide greater stability and improved housing options as they manage the unique demands of military life. This reflects a shared commitment across Congress and the Department to strengthen quality of life for our troops. Our military families deserve nothing less.”
