Wicker Statement on Passage of Senate GOP Tax Proposal

December 2, 2017

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., released the following statement upon passage of the Senate Republicans’ plan for tax reform:

“Tonight I joined my Senate colleagues to vote to bring this historic legislation one step closer to President Trump’s desk. This proposal would be good for job creation and good for small businesses. It would mean millions of middle-class Americans keep more of their hard-earned dollars. And it would mean that American businesses can compete on a global stage. The next step will be to work with the House of Representatives to iron out differences in our proposals and deliver these tax cuts for the American people.”

Yesterday, Wicker participated in a tax reform press conference with members of the Senate, Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Linda McMahon, and Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council President & CEO Karen Kerrigan. The event highlighted the benefits of tax reform, which is expected to create jobs and promote economic growth.

Last night, Wicker delivered pre-recorded video remarks to the Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership’s 25th anniversary celebration in Hattiesburg, Miss. Wicker was the keynote speaker but was unable to attend due to late votes in Washington.
